Imagine

Imagine waking up every day to the gloom of wondering what the day will bring. What challenges will you need to face? What mountains will you need to climb? What rivers will you need to cross? What chains will bind you?

Imagine going to sleep every night to the thoughts of: what still needs to be done or how will I accomplish all that needs to be done and/or will I ever be in a better place… will I ever get pass/through this?

Unfortunately, this happens to so many of us. We become consumed over what will be. Our expectations are saturated with fear of trials and things we want to complete or accomplish. We become paralyzed with fear and crippled with doubt.

How did we get here? How did we move from joy to sorrow? How did we move from peace to despair? How did we move from trust to doubt?

It happens subtly but not suddenly.

I think we get there gradually. Day by day, situation by situation, challenge by challenge, disappointment by disappointment, burden by burden (well you get the point). It happens. We just arrive at that place sometimes without knowing and others time with a clear awareness of how we slipped out of the presence, peace, protection and provision of our loving Savior.

It’s a dangerous place to be and I pray that all who know what it feels like to be in this place. How do we avoid it? How do we ensure we do not arrive at this place? Well we have to change directions. Take a different course. Reroute.

Now…imagine waking up every day with the security that whatever comes your way God is with you and He is working things out for your good and his glory (Romans 8:28) “for we know that all things work together for good for those who are called according to his purpose”. And when you feel like picking the burdens up, remember Psalm 55:22 “cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken”. and consider going to bed with Matthew 6:34 on your heart “therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”.

It’s not always easy to let go and let God, but I know it will be worth it. I need to practice this myself. I need to trust the Lord in EVERY area of my life and not just those I think I cannot handle. I NEED to yield. I WANT to yield. I WILL yield. Will you?

Father, in the name of Jesus I pray you would saturate our hearts with your peace, patience, promise, provision and protection. God we need you to help us to yield. We know Your power and we’ve seen you work. We need you Lord, help us to get better. Help us to do better. Help us to be better. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
